PURPOSE:To obtain a piezoelectric vibrator with excellent temperature characteristic in the oscillating frequency by making each thermal expansion rate of a tubular case and a cap different from that of a piezoelectric vibrating piece and approaching the thermal expansion rate between holders of the piezoelectric vibrating piece comprising the tubular case and the cap to that of the piezoelectric vibrating piece. CONSTITUTION:The thermal expansion rate of the tubular case 1 and the case 6, 6' is made different from that of the piezoelectric vibrating piece 3 and the thermal expansion rate between the holders 8, 8' of the piezoelectric vibrating piece 3 comprising the tubular case 1 and the caps 6, 6' is made close to that of the piezoelectric vibrating piece 3. For example, in using a ceramic of the tubular case 1 and the caps 7, 7', each thermal expansion rate is 40-75X10<-7>/ deg.C for ceramic and 177X10<-7>/ deg.C for copper, and in adjusting the length of the tubular case 1 and the projection of the caps 7, 7', the thermal expansion rate between the holders 8, 8' is made close to the thermal expansion rate 133X10<-7>/ deg.C of the rectangular AT crystal oscillator piece 3. Thus, the piezoelectric vibrator where the temperature characteristic of the oscillating frequency is stable is obtained.
