PURPOSE:To efficiently manufacture a solid electrolyte fuel cell without use of large scale equipment by forming solid solution of oxide powder of starting raw material, crushing, and bonding the oxide powder to a fuel cell substrate with a plasma thermal spray process. CONSTITUTION:Cerium oxide or zirconium oxide powder and two or three valent metal oxide powder of alkali earth metals or rare earth elements are separately heated, then mixed to form solid solution. The solid solution is crushed and particle size is adjusted to produce solid electrolyte powder for thermal spray. After a fuel electrode 2 is formed on the surface of a substrate 1, electrolyte raw material powder having a specified particle size is bonded on the surface of fuel electrode 2 by plasma thermal spray to form an electrolyte thin film 3, then an oxygen electrode 4 is formed thereon to produce a fuel cell. Thereby, a high performance solid electrolyte fuel cell is efficiently manufactured without use of large scale equipment. |
