PURPOSE:To separate a gaseous mixture consisting of a gaseous component small in the density and a gaseous component large in the density in the high separating efficiency by passing the gaseous mixture in <=1m/sec gas flow velocity underward from the upper part through the inside of a hollow yarn module provided lengthwise. CONSTITUTION:A gas separation module is lengthwise provided in such a state that a yarn flux element 1 of the hollow yarns 4 is uprighted for a flat floor 10 by means of a support 11 or the like. A gaseous mixture consisting of at least two kinds of gaseous components different in the densities is fed to the inside of the module from a feed port 7 and passed along the peripheral surfaces of each hollow yarn 4 of the yarn flux element in about <=1m/sec flow velocity downward from the upper part of the yarn flux element 1 and the gas which is permeated through the walls of the hollow yarns and small in density is recovered through a takeout port 9 and the nonpermeated gas is discharged from an exhaust port 8.
