PURPOSE:To achieve a higher workability, by inserting a bottomed tube into a pipe through the bottom thereof to enable the measurement of the pipe as buried. CONSTITUTION:A bottomed tube 2, an ultrasonic wave propagation body 4, a vertical probe 6 and the like are provided. To measure the thickness, the tube 2 and a truck 7 is inserted into the pipe 1 and then, an ultrasonic wave is transmitted from a probe 6. Then, the interval (ultrasonic wave propagation time) between the echo from the inner surface of the pipe 1 and the echo from the outer surface thereof is measured to be translated into a thickness value. The measurement of the thickness can be done letting the probe 6 run intermittently or continuously along the length of the pipe. In this manner, the pipe can be measured as it is in buried state. |
