PURPOSE:To facilitate preparation of documents by storing as document data (document parts) of character string and undecided part of content every unit, setting up hierarchical sequence for document parts and inserting special characters for undecided part and outputting the characters in hierarchical sequence. CONSTITUTION:Character strings and undecided part of documents are stored in the document memory means 5 classified in units of document data. Document data is stored in the document memory 4 as parts of the document and accumulated document parts are controlled by the document control means 1. The document preparation means 2 has a hierarchical structure function for the parts of documents such as to edit the files by setting headers, abstract, large and small headlines and classification. The document integrated editing means 3 selects document data from the document memory means 5 and inserts into the undecided part corresponding undecided part in the memory means 6 and arranges them in the output format in the memory means 7 to complete the document. Then the document is output to the memory means 8 for printout. This enables easy preparation of documents of specified format such as official papers and reports, etc.
