The invention relates to a connecting socket for communications apparatuses, having a plug-in mains lead and having a communications line, which can be connected, for wall mounting. The connecting socket contains a chamber having a plug socket for the mains lead and a chamber having a plug socket for the communications line, the two chambers are connected to one another by means of a potential-equalising rail and are connected to the plug-socket inserts of the plug sockets via voltage limiting elements. The connecting socket ensures that the protective insulation in the communications apparatus, on which protective insulation the potential difference between the mains lead and the communications line is present in the event of a lightning strike, is not overloaded and that in consequence no hazard to personnel can result.
