In a cleaning implement, having a carrier for one or more cleaning elements, a handle housing arranged on the carrier with a handle hole, and a long or short handle or the like which is inserted releasably in said handle hole, efficient and convenient retention of the handle is achieved in that the handle housing has a window on its outer surface, and in that an actuator is mounted pivotably on the carrier or the handle housing, which actuator has a locking member which passes through the window in the closed position and engages on the long or short handle in a force-fitting or positive-locking manner.
