PURPOSE:To provide a roller which improves impact resistance in a roller fitted externally with ceramic rolls to a water cooled driving shaft made of a metal by forming an air layer between the above-mentioned shaft and the roll and interposing a metallic body having an impact relieving function therebetween. CONSTITUTION:A large-diameter part of a detaining projection 11 is formed to one end side of the hollow driving shaft 1 made of steel penetrated with a hollow part 13 to serve as a passage for cooling water at the axial center and an external screw part 12 is formed on the other side in, for example, a conveying roller for a heat treatment installation of a pipe or bar material. The plural ceramic rolls 21 are externally fitted onto the shaft 1. Two pieces a set of the rolls 21 are pressed to each other in the truncated heat parts to constitute a conveying part. The inside diameter of the rolls 21 is made larger than the outside diameter of the shaft 1 and the metallic body 7 is interposed between both. A spacer 3 is held in place between the projection 11 and the roll group 2 and the roll group 2 is tightened while a roll retainer 4 and a coil spring 6 are sandwiched between the roll group and a nut 5 to fix the roll group 2 to the shaft 1. The metallic body 7 is made of a stainless steel woven wire net to form the air layer and has the impact relieving function. |
