PURPOSE:To execute always a test print and to execute efficiently picture diagnosis by providing a signal control means for suppressing a synchronous error or a print error detection signal to an external device when the synchronous error or print error takes place while a test print flag is set. CONSTITUTION:A controller 2 sends a print starting command to a recorder main body 1 and outputs a picture information signal to the main body 1 synchronously with a recording synchronizing signal generated by a recording synchronizing signal generating circuit 4 to start prescribed picture forming. An output defect detection circuit 5 checks whether or not a BD signal outputted from the recording synchronizing signal generating circuit 4 is outputted correctly and detects an output mistake, then outputs it as a detection signal (a) to a CPU 6. When a test print flag is set, the CPU 6 does not set 'presence of mis-print' to the controller 2 and does not execute error recovery but continues the required operation.
