PURPOSE:To securely detect a mark and prevent erroneous actions from occurring at the time of transferring, by constituting a mark-detecting part of a plurality of mark detectors so provided as to range over a section of the length of each mark in the transverse direction of the ink carrier. CONSTITUTION:An ink carrier 10 is provided with a right mark-indicating part 21 and a left mark indicating part 22 (which are not coated with a transfer ink) at both ends in the transverse direction thereof, and marks 23 having a length (l) in the transverse direction of the carrier 10 are selectively provided at the parts 21, 22 correspondingly to each ink color. A right mark detecting part 24 and a left mark detecting part 25 are provided respectively on the moving paths L of the mark indicating parts 21, 22 of the ink carrier 10. The mark detecting parts 24, 25 consist respectively of a pair of mark detectors 24a, 24b and a pair of mark detectors 25a, 25b, each pair ranging over the section of the length (l) of the marks 23 in the transverse direction of the carrier 10, and detection signals are inputted into a microcomputer serving as an ink color discriminating means constituting the color detector for the ink carrier. |
