PURPOSE:To grasp surely whether a recording medium is exchanged or not during a power supply is disconnected by providing a means for mechanically storing that the recording medium is exchanged. CONSTITUTION:When an outer cover 35 is turned clockwise about a hinge shaft 12 in a state of a cassette 1 is inserted into a holder 31, a cassette sensor piece 66a is pressed down by the underside of the cassette 1. A cassette loading and unloading sensor lever 66 is turned clockwise against a spring 68, a pressing part 66c presses down an arm 62c of a switch operating lever 62, a switch operating part 62a presses down a contact piece 70a of a cassette loading or unloading sensor switch 70 to turn the switch 70 on. A switch 69 sensing whether the cassette is presence or absence is turned on by a switch operating part 66d of the lever 66 releasing the pressing of a contact 69a.
