<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrode for a polymer electrolyte fuel cell capable of accomplishing improvement of battery performance by realizing both electric conductivity and gas diffusion capability of a catalyst layer while sufficiently securing durability of the fuel cell and to provide a polymer electrolyte fuel cell using the electrode. <P>SOLUTION: This polymer electrolyte fuel cell has: a fuel electrode comprising a gas diffusion layer formed of a conductive porous body, and the catalyst layer containing electrode catalyst and an ion exchange resin; and an oxygen electrode; and the fuel electrode and the oxygen electrode are disposed on one surface of a solid polymer electrode membrane and on the other surface thereof, respectively. In the polymer electrolyte fuel cell, this electrode for the polymer electrolyte fuel cell is characterized by using carbon particles and a carbon fiber for a catalyst support body in the catalyst layer. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
