PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic head having the excellent wear resistance, workability and glass bonding ability by constituting a main magnetic pole member and a sliding member of a nonmagnetic material with 40-80wt% Al2O3 and 20-60wt% TiO2 as a main component. CONSTITUTION:An auxiliary magnetic pole plate 1 is provided with grooves 3 and 4 becoming a coil window and a main magnetic pole inserting grooves 5a, and a groove 5b is installed opposite to the groove 5a on the sliding member 2. When the magnetic pole plate 1 and the member 2 are glass-welded, the main magnetic pole part plate 6 is simultaneously inserted into the grooves 5a and 5b, and cut into the prescribed width. Then the surface of the member is cut into the thickness to which the plate 6 exposes, and R-surface is worked so as to obtain a magnetic head. The main magnetic pole member plate 6 and the sliding member 2 are constituted of the nonmagnetic material with the 40-80wt% Al2O3 and 20-60wt% TiO2 as the main component. Accordingly the titled head is excellent in the wear resistance and precise workability, and a blow hole hardly occurs at glass bonding, thereby obtain a low-priced magnetic head with the excellent quality.
