The novel compound 3-chloroisocinchomeronoyl chloride is prepared by reacting isocinchomeronic acid N-oxide with phosgene, thionyl chloride or phosphorus oxychloride in the presence of a N,N-dialkyl- formamide. The 3-chloroisocinchomeronoyl chloride is reacted with water to give the acid, with alcohol to give the diester, with amines to give amides and with a thio compound to give the corresponding thio derivatives.
