PURPOSE:To attain automatic selection and display of pipeline candidates which need corrections if the design is changed after a pipeline route is decided, by providing an arithmetic processor and various auxiliary memories for layout design of the pipeline. CONSTITUTION:For layout design of pipelines, the obstacle names (codes) to be changed are supplied as the design change data from an input 1 in case the design of the obstacle data is changed after a pipeline route is decided. Then the obstacle data corresponding to the input codes are read out of a memory 7 for obstacle data serving as an auxiliary memory and stored in a memory pat 5c for intermediate data. then the position data on the pipeline requiring the correction owing to the design change is read out of a memory 6 for pipeline data. In addition, the position data obtained before and after the change of the obstacle are read out of the part 5c. An arithmetic part 5a performs calculation to decide the necessity of corrections. As a result, the pipeline candidate requiring correction is selected automatically and displayed on a CRT 2.
