PURPOSE:To aim at enhancing a joint strength, by forming a stepped section either the joint part of the barrel section of a cam receiver which reciprocates in the axial direction by being subjected to the motion of a tappet cam, or the joint part of a pressure receiving plate so that the stepped part is fitted in the other joint part in the direction in which the cam receiver is reciprocated. CONSTITUTION:A valve lifter 7 as a cam receiver is disposed between a valve stem 1 and a tappet cam 5. Further, the valve lifter 7 is divided into two parts, that is, a hollow cylindrical barrel section 10 which slides axially in a guide hole 9 in a cylinder head 8, and a disc-like pressure receiving plate 11 on which the cam surface 5a of the tappet cam 5 mates sliding motion and said pressure receiving plate 11 is fitted in one end opening face 10a of the barrel section 10. In this arrangement, for example, the joint end face 11a of outer peripheral section of the pressure receiving plate 11 is formed therein with a stepped part 12 which is circumferentially continuous and onto which one end opening face 10a of the barrel section 10 is fitted in the axial direction or the reciprocating direction of the valve lifter 7. The outer peripheral surface 12a of the stepped part 12, which axially extends is made to abut against the inner peripheral surface of opening of the barrel section 10. |
