PURPOSE:To produce the titled substance by the partial hydrogenation of isoprene in the presence an alpha-olefin compound using a catalyst consisting of a Co compound, an organic phosphine compound, an Al compound and optionally a boron halide compound, a protonic acid, etc. CONSTITUTION:The titled substance is produced by the partial hydrogenation of isoprene using a catalyst consisting of a Co compound, an organic phosphine compound, an Al compound and optionally a boron halide compound and/or a protonic acid having a pKa of <=1 (e.g. p-toluenesulfonic acid). The above reaction is carried out in the presence of an alpha-olefin compound of formula (R<1> is aryl, tert-alkyl or tert-silyl; R<2> is H, alkyl, tert-silyl or aryl) (e.g. alpha- methylstyrene). EFFECT:The objective material can be produced from an inexpensive raw material selectively in high yield. |
