The weaving loom is stopped by a special stop signal, for example a failure signal of a warp thread guide (112) at the occurence of the breaking of a warp thread (140). When the stop signal occurs, the subprogram is set on and switches the program pitch of the weft shed, wherein the weaving loom stops and also the shedding device (6), to the reverse shedding and which returns the weaving loom to the first shedding crossing. Thereby, all the yarn guiding eyelets (29) of the shedding device are brought to an intermediate position (144). Owing to these measures, a series of advantages are obtained, particularly detecting and avoiding a broken warp yarn is facilitated by the improved accessibility to the yarns and also excessive elongations of the warp yarns (24) are avoided.
