PURPOSE:To obtain the title foam having uniform and fine cells and being excellent in surface smoothness, elasticity, etc., by adding a specified nucleating agent to a propylene/ethylene block copolymer, supplying an inert gas under pressure and extrusion-foaming the mixture. CONSTITUTION:A propylene/ethylene block copolymer of a melt index of 0.1-10 and an ethylene component content of 1-20wt% or its mixture with other resins is prepared. To this copolymer (mixture) a nucleating agent consisting of 1-10wt% magnesium silicate and 0.01-1wt% azodicarbonamide is added. An inert gas (e.g., nitrogen gas) is supplied under pressure to the extruder, and the mixture is extrusion-foamed to obtain the purpose propylene/ethylene copolymer foam. The obtained foam is excellent in heat resistance, strength, etc., and can be used suitably as a material for cushions, packing, seals, etc.
