PURPOSE:To prevent the formation of scratches, etc. on the surface of a web by improving the retaining force by forming a large-diameter part at the edges of a web guiding roller and forming a rough surface on the outer surface, in a film production process. CONSTITUTION:The outer surface 10a of a roller body 10 made of hard metal is finished smooth, and the rings 14 and 15 having a length of (a) and a thick ness of (b) are fitted at the both edges. Though each of the length (a) and thickness (b) is determined according to the material of a web 13, particularly according to the surface shape, tension, transport speed, etc., (a) is set to 5-50mm, preferably 10-20mm, and b is set to 0.3-2.0mm, preferably 0.5-1mm. The aventurine processing in 3-5mu is applied onto the outer surfaces of the rings 14 and 15, or a concaved part in 20-40mu is formed. Therefore, the retaining force is improved, and the scratches due to the difference of speed of the web is not formed on the web, and the transcription trouble which may be caused by the improvement of the retaining force does not occur.
