PURPOSE:To obtain a compact apparatus improved in the drainage of a dis charged solid, by scraping up the solid particles sedimented in a sedimentation tank by a ribbon screw conveyor and separating a liquid from solid particles discharged on a belt conveyor to return the same to the sedimentation tank. CONSTITUTION:Raw water charged in a sedimentation tank 1 from a raw water charging part 6 is impinged to a pressure reducing plate 16 to be reduced in pressure and flowed toward a flooding part 9 while the flow thereof is made quiet by barrier plates 25A, 25B. Water separated from gravel is discharged out of the sedimentation tank 1 from the flooding part 9. Gravel sedimented to the bottom of the sedimentation tank 1 is scraped up toward the raw water charging part 6 by a ribbon screw conveyor 2 and a subsequently scooped up by a bucket 3 to be discharged onto a belt conveyor 4. Further, water contained in gravel is separated on a conveyor belt 28 to be returned into the sedimentation tank 1.
