<p>PURPOSE:To prevent printed dot density from being lowered, without reducing printing speed, by a method wherein a multiplicity of kinds of dots are printed by a plurality of rows of heating elements. CONSTITUTION:In a thermal head 10 of a thermal printer, heating elements A1-A7 for first-stage heating are arranged in a row on a ceramic substrate 11 and are connected with lead wires 12, and heating elements B1-B7 for second-stage heating are arranged in a row with a predetermined spacing between the rows, and are connected with lead wires 13. A common lead wire 14 is connected to one end of a power source for heating, and the lead wires 12, 13 are selectively connected to the other end of the power source, whereby the heating elements A1-A7, B1-B7 in each row can be selectively operated to generate heat. The spacing between the rows A and B is set to be an integer times of the pitch of rows of color-developed dots formed on a recording paper by the heating elements in each row as the thermal head is moved.</p> |
