The invention relates to surface mounting of elementary electronic components for the mass production of electronic circuits. It concerns an electronic component, such as a miniature resistor for surface mounting of the type comprising a cylindrical body provided with a conductive cap at each of its ends, characterised in that it comprises moreover a partial encapsulation completely covering the part of the body situated between the conductive caps and leaving bare at least a part of each conductive cap, this encapsulation having at least two plane facets which are parallel to each other and to the longitudinal axis of the said body.
