PURPOSE:To improve the width accuracy and yield of a rolling stock by deforming previously the front end of a rolling stock into a downward convex warp in the width direction before rolling the stock. CONSTITUTION:On the upstream side of an edging mill; press devices, consisting each of a cylinder 3, a piston 4 and a die 5, are arranged at both sides of a rolling stock S. Further, a pedestal 6 is provided to the central part above the stock S to prevent the ward convex deformation of stock S. The front end of the stock S before edging, is previously formed by the press devices so that its cross-sectional shape in the width direction is warped into a downward convex. At that time, the depestal 6 prevents the stock S from deforming into an upward convex warp. Next, the stock S is rolled by the vertical rolls of the edging mill. The stock S deformed downward is supported by table rolls 2 to prevent it from causing buckling. Accordingly, the width accuracy and yield of a product are improved by increasing the rolling reduction. |
