MAGNETIC RECORDING MEDIUM

PURPOSE:To obtain a magnetic recording medium having superior traveling stability and output by forming a magnetic layer contg. magnetic powder of Co-contg. magnetic iron oxide having >=25m<2>/g BET value, glycerol ester and carbon black having <=30mmu average primary particle size. CONSTITUTION:This magnetic recording medium has a magnetic layer contg. magnetic powder of Co-contg. magnetic iron oxide having >=25m<2>/g BET value, glycerol ester and carbon black having <=30mmu average primary particle size. The preferred amount of the glycerol ester added is 0.005-2pts.wt. per 100pts.wt. magnetic powder. The preferred particle size of the carbon black is >=10mX with respect to the dispersibility. The magnetic recording medium has the magnetic layer 2 on one side of a support 1. A BC layer 3 may be formed on the other side.
