PURPOSE:To adjust easily the position of the front face of a stave by the size adjustment of a spacer and to bring the stave into uniform contact with the surface of a furnace wall brick by making freely adjustable the space for attaching of a shell and stave by means of the spacer. CONSTITUTION:A distance piece 17 and a fine adjustment liner 18 are inserted to the top end of a bolt 11 which is inserted into a bolt insertion hole 5 and projects above a bolt seat 3. The top end of the bolt 11 is inserted into a bolt through-hole 8 of the shell 2 in such a manner that the piece 17 and liner 18 are positioned in the hole 8. A washer 16 is fitted onto the bolt and a nut 12 is screwed thereto and is locked to fix the shell 2 and the stave 1. The space between the stave 1 and the shell 2 is first roughly adjusted by means of the piece 17 to position the front face B of the stave 1 near to the prescribed line L in the case of attaching the stave 1 to the shell 2. The position of the front face B of the stave 1 is so adjusted as to arrive at the line L and thereafter the nut 12 is screwed to the bolt 11 and is locked to fix the shell 2 and the stave 1.
