The invention relates to a device and method for signalling the functioning of an apparatus supplied by an energy source, for example an apparatus having a moving part driven by a motor. It is characterised by the operating of a switch IM and the supplying of a signalling device L1 and of a control stage, the excitation of a power relay BRP supplying the motor if the signalling device is functioning, the control stage and possibly the excitation of a holding relay supplying the signalling device L1, the control stage, a time base and, conditionally, a flashing stage and a second signalling device L2 for a predetermined duration after the removal of excitation from the power relay, and the removal of excitation from the holding relay at the end of this predetermined duration. The invention allows, for example, the luminous signalling of the movement of a moving part of a machine, even after the power supply of the latter has been interrupted, to a user who is hard of hearing or in a noisy environment. <IMAGE>
