PURPOSE:To obtain a photosensitive material having sufficient coupling activity and giving a yellow image having superior light and heat resistances with a color developing soln. contg. no benzyl alcohol by using a specified novel yellow dye forming coupler. CONSTITUTION:A yellow dye forming coupler represented by the formula (where R1 is phenoxy, alkoxy, phenylthio, alkylthio, phenylsulfonyl, alkylsulfonyl or substituted amino; each of R2 and R3 is alkyl; R4 is an aromatic or heterocyclic group; X1 is alkylene; and X2 is H or a group which is eliminated by a reaction with the oxidized product of aromatic primary amine as a color developing agent) is incorporated into a blue-sensitive silver halide emulsion layer as a coupler for silver halide color photography. Thus, a dye image having superior shelf stability is formed with a color developing soln. contg. no benzyl alcohol. The yellow coupler is independent of a change in the pH of the color developing soln. and has superior solubility in a high b.p. solvent, superior dispersibility and stability in a photographic emulsion. |
