A process for demonstrating, in the reception of radio- transmitted messages in the form of characters, especially of messages to pagers, that the last of the received messages in identical to a previously received and stored message includes identification of the message with the aid of an identity label transmitted thereto. This is either a part, a block, of a message or a character combination within the message. The process further includes giving special treatment to a received message having the same identity label as that of an already stored message, for example leaving it out of account. A receiver for application of the process contains a receiver antenna 1, a radio part 2, a demodulator, a decoder 3 for the address of the receiver, a signal processor 4, 4A, which in turn contains a register 41 for a message, a message store 42 for more than one message, and a comparator 43 for comparing an identity label in the message in the register 41 with the identity labels in the messages in the message store 42 and, if these should tally, for storing a record to this effect. In interaction with the comparison 43, a control logic 44, 53 will compare a chosen number of blocks from the register 41 with corresponding blocks from the messages stored in the message store 42. An error detector 51 will establish errors in the sign of the block and the control logic 53, together with the comparator 43, will restrict the comparison to error-free blocks. Should the identity labels tally, the comparator 43 will give the message in the register a separate treatment, for example preventing the message in the register from being stored in the message store. <IMAGE>
