PURPOSE:To enable the adsorptive removal of a chromium ion, by contacting an alkaline aqueous solution containing a chromium ion with gas activated carbon. CONSTITUTION:Activated carbon is activated in the presence of oxygen and steam. This activated carbon is suspended in a solution containing a chromium ion under stirring before filtering or said aqueous solution containing the chromium ion is recirculated and flowed through an activated carbon packed bed. By this method, the adsorptive removal of the chromium ion is performed effectively.
