PURPOSE:To reduce irregularity in the exposure of an image plane during photography and to allow speed-light photography by providing a run speed varying means for a shutter leading member and a shutter trailing member to a camera equipped with a slit exposure type shutter. CONSTITUTION:The shutter leading blade 1 is fitted to tips of parallel arms 5 and 6 and supported rotatably on a base plate 9 through shafts 10 and 11. Further, the shutter trailing blade 2 is supported rotatably on the base plate 9. The leading blade 1 and trailing blade 2 are run crossing an aperture 9a to perform exposure. The shutter leading blade 1 is run first and a control circuit calculates its shutter speed to control the shutter speed of the trailing blade 2 on the basis of the calculated shutter speed. For example, when a slow shutter speed is required, the speed of the trailing shutter blade is made slower than a high-speed shutter speed. Thus, the means which vary the mean run speed of the shutter leading and trailing blades is provided to perform speed light photography over a wide shutter speed range, thereby eliminating irregularity in exposure.
