PURPOSE:To obtain a simple, small-size thermal transfer recorder capable of exact double-sided recording by a method in which two heat-meltable ink carriers are set on both sides of a recording medium, and the carrier on the surface side of the recording medium is retracted from between a thermal head and the recording medium by a shifter being provided. CONSTITUTION:A thermal head 9 is upped in the early-period state, and an ink ribbon 12 on the surface side is set between the thermal head 9 and a recording paper 3. Under the condition, the ink ribbon 12 is turned to the direction of L and retracted upwards from between the head 9 and the paper 3. The head 9 is then turned to the direction of D, and a heating element 10 is directly contacted with the surface 3a of the paper 3. Ink in the portion R of the ink ribbon 16 is melted and transferred to the back side 3b of the paper 3 for recording. The ribbon 12 is then turned to the direction of M and set between the head 9 and the paper 3, whereupon ink in the portion T of the back side touched by the heating element 10 is melted and transferred to the surface 3a of the paper 3 for surface recording. |
