PURPOSE:A herbicide composition showing herbicidal action, having a wide herbicidal spectrum, higher herbicidal effects with the same application amount of each component alone, obtained by blending an N-substituted-chloroacetanilide with benzylurea. CONSTITUTION:(A) A compound shown by the formula I (A is halogen, alkoxy, or alkylthio; R1-R3 are H, halogen, alkyl, alkoxy, or alkylthio), such as N-[2'-(3'-methoxy)-thienylmethyl]-N-chloroaceto-2,6-dimethylanilide, is blended with (B) a compound shown by the formula II (X is halogen, CF3, alkyl, or alkoxy), such as 1-(alpha, alpha-dimethylbenzyl)-3-(2'-chlorobenzyl) urea in a weight ratio of 1pt.wt. component A to 0.01-100pts.wt., preferably 1-10pts.wt. compo nent B. High effects are obtained by soil treatment of foliar treatment before and after germination of weeds and the composition is effective especially as a herbicide for paddy fields.
