An insulated heating film is placed under a supple film of transparent polyester giving high quality electrical insulation. The heating element gives off infra-red radiation when an electric current is passed through it. A thermal insulating layer is attached to the heating layer. The insulating layer may be a panel of polyisocyanurate (PIR) having a high insulation coefficient, expanded polystyrene, or a mat of mineral wool or glass fibre. - A cable with a male plug is connected to the electric supply and a female socket is also provided to allow multiple heating units to be connected to a single supply. The outside of the heated material is covered with a durable decorative finish having good electrical insulation and water sealant properties.
