PURPOSE:The titled composition, having a wide weeding spectrum on gramineous weeds such as water nurgrass and Japanese ribbon wapato and broadleaf weeds, safe for crops, and containing an N-substituted-chloroacetanilide and a benzothiadiazine derivative as active ingredients. CONSTITUTION:A herbicidal composition containing an N-substituted-chloro acetanilide expressed by formula I (R1, R2 and R3 represents H, halogen atom, alkyl, alkoxyl, alkylthio, alkoxyalkyl or alkylthioalkyl; R4 represents H or alkyl; R5, R6 and R7 represent H, halogen atom, alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, etc.) and a benzothiadiazine derivative expressed by formula II (R8 is alkyl; R9 represents H or alkali metal) as active ingredients. The amount of the compound expressed by formula II to be used based on 1 part wt. of the compound expressed by formula I is 0.01-100pts.wt., preferably 1-50pts.wt. As for a method using the composition, spraying of either the parent chemicals themselves or a formulation such as dust is applicable.
