PURPOSE:To control the quantity of exposure with high precision by adding and subtracting an estimated value of printing density and a correction quantity based upon a desired value to and from the quantity of printing exposure obtained by measuring film density. CONSTITUTION:A filter quantity in color correction alternation is found and then a correction quantity accompanying the correction alteration is calculated. Further, the driving quantity, moving quantity, and correction quantity of a dimming filter for a printing light source correction are summed up to calculate a correction quantity with which the dimming filter is driven finally, thereby driving the dimming filter. Consequently, an exposure quantity control value is controlled for any film with high precision without losing color balance, and accurate printing is performed even for a negative film obtained by using a different kind of photographic light source. Further, when the desired value is clear, the condition setting, control, and operation of a color printer are facilitated to perform stable printing against variations of a film process, etc.
