PURPOSE:To provide the titled fiber containing hexamethylenediamine, terephthalic acid, epsilon-caprolactam, adipic acid, and isophthalic acid at specific composition, producible from inexpensive raw materials, and having higher melting point than nylon 6, etc., excellent heat-resistance, and high crystallinity. CONSTITUTION:A copolyamide fiber composed of the recurring units of (A) the unit of formula I, (B) the unit of formula II and (C) the unit of formula III [R is -(CH2)4- or group of formula IV], wherein the amounts of the components A and B are 60-99(wt)% and 40-1%, respectively, or the amount of the compound A is 60-99% and hat of the component B+C is 40-1%. For example, the polymer can be produced by dissolving a nylon salt of hexamethylenediamine terephthalate in water at a concentration of 30-60%, and polymerizing together with epsilon-caprolactam at 250-270 deg.C. The objective fiber is obtained by spinning the resultant copolyamide having an intrinsic viscosity of preferably >=0.9dl/g (in concentrated sulfuric acid at 30 deg.C) at 300-400 deg.C.
