Installation for lowering the temperature of a flow of gas, for the thermal conditioning of air for conditioning premises by direct thermal exchange with a cooling liquid having a temperature less than that of the said gas and sprayed into the said flow, comprising: two lines 4, 5 for spraying the liquid arranged one behind the other along the flow of gas; two containers 7, 8 for recovering the sprayed liquid linked to the two lines 4, 5; a link 12 connected to the second line (in the direction of the flow of the gas) so as to supply it from a source 13 of liquid; a link 16 between the second container 8 and the first line 4 so as to supply the latter with partially heated liquid contained in the second container 8; and an outlet 17 for evacuating the liquid contained in the first container 7. <IMAGE>
