PURPOSE:To separate efficiently Co and Ni from a concd. Fe alloy by melting a high-alloy steel contg. Co and Ni in a recarburized state into a molten bath of Sn, Pb, etc., adding Si thereto and separating an Fe-Si phase by flotation. CONSTITUTION:The high-alloy steel contg. Co and Ni is melted in the recarburized state into the molten bath of Sn, Pb, the alloy thereof, etc. having the weight of >=10 times the weight of said steel. Si is added to the bath to decrease the solubility of Fe and the Fe-Si phase is floated by which said phase is separated and recovered. The Si is further added again to the bath to decrease the solubility of Co and Ni and to float the Co.Ni-Si phase. The floated mixture composed of Fe, Co, Ni and Si is recovered and the Si is oxidized to SiO2 which is then removed. The low contamination Fe alloy scrap in a nuclear power plant, etc., is thus subjected to a volume reduction treatment without generating a large quantity of secondary waste by the above-mentioned method.
|
