PURPOSE:To prevent a recorded sound from becoming rasping when a picture is reproduced principally by specifying a source for audio monitoring as the reproducing output of a VTR in the reproducing mode of the VTR, and selecting the output of audio equipment in recording mode in addition to information which is recorded by the VTR as a source. CONSTITUTION:When the VTR23 is in recording mode, a radio tuner 24 and an audio deck 25 are supplied with electric power. Therefore, when the radio tuner 24 is placed in reception mode, or when the audio deck 25 is set in recording/reproducing mode, a signal indicating that is supplied to a controller 29 through signal lines c4 and c5, so the controller 29 selects the audio input of the audio equipment side. Consequently, a sound is monitored according to the priority between the radio tuner 24 and audio deck 25. Then, when the tuner 24 and audio deck 25 are reset, the controller 29 selects the audio input from the video equipment side automatically.
