The essential feature of the process according to the invention consists in a plastics film being drawn at ambient temperature with a force of at least 0.5 N/cm, over an edge, the said film being bent at an angle of 30-70 DEG . The device serving to carry out the process is provided with a bending edge (1) onto the surface of which a supporting roller (2) is pressed by means of pneumatic working cylinders (3). Furthermore, a rubber-coated rigidly mounted roller (4) and a free-running metal roller (5) are provided, a direct current drive (6) being in contact via a gearwheel (7) with a gearwheel (8) arranged on the shaft of the rubber-coated roller (4) and being connected via a chain drive (9) to rollers (10). <IMAGE>
