A description is given of a continuous conveyor for piece goods, having a belt conveyor conveying to an, in particular displaceable, transfer point. In the case of said continuous conveyor, reliable transfer of the item is achieved in that the belt conveyor is provided on its carrying side with longitudinal grooves (2), and the transfer point has a chute (5) which removes the item from the belt conveyor and is provided with fingers (4) engaging into the longitudinal grooves (2). <IMAGE>
