The chuck has a body (8) with two internal conical surfaces (14,15) separated by a shoulder (16). A set of jaws (5) co-operates with the upper conical surface and a second set of jaws (6) co-operates with the lower conical surface. The two sets of jaws are separated by a disc (7) of resilient material. The jaws are moved axially by a screwed bush (3) which exerts an axial force through the torque limiting mechanism and the slider (26). The jaws are moved radially inwards by the reaction of the conical surfaces so that the upper jaws grip the square end of the tool shank (12) whilst the lower jaws grip the round part of the tool shank. |
