PURPOSE:To provide a learning function to the titled recognizer by defining the mean value between the feature parameter of the character registered in a dictionary and the feature parameter of the input character as a new feature parameter. CONSTITUTION:A recognition processing part 2 delivers at least one or more characters as the results of recognition in the order of higher degrees of resemblance. In case a command given from a command generating part 3 indicates the learning for production of an individual dictionary, this indication is sent to an individual dictionary producing part 7. The part 7 produces a new feature parameter from the feature parameter of the input information used for recognition and the feature parameter registered in a recognition dictionary 8 corresponding to the character selected by a candidate character processing part 4. Then the new feature parameter is replaced with a feature parameter registered in the dictionary 8.
