<p>A rail car platform is disposed in a tipping structure mounted on end pivots for tipping with the rail car on it. A top clamp holds the rail car in place when it is tipped and comprises a main longitudinal beam (16) supported on the pivot mountings (10,18), transmitting the width of the structure and rail car to the mountings. - The main beam carries the top clamp (34) through pivot supports (36) fixed to the main beam. This forms a clamp pivot axis above that of the main beam end pivot mounting when the tipper is at rest. The main beam pref. carries a buffer pivotable on an axis parallel to the rotary tipping axis to engage the car side.</p> |
