The invention relates to a prefabricated timber staircase. The outer strings of this staircase are made of elements 1 and 2 which are cut so as to have sloping edges and which may be assembled by way of a screw 3 having an embedded head and a nut 4 assembled in a casing. The outer strings are held apart by the risers 5 and the outer strings are applied against the risers 5 via the steps 6, used as ties, fixed to the outer strings by means of anchor bolts 7 after wedges 10 have been interposed by insertion into the groove located near one of the outer strings. In the balanced parts, the steps are not notched onto the posts, which makes the bannister dismantleable. Application : construction of interior works for all types of staircase. <IMAGE>
