PURPOSE:To judge securely the degree of deterioration of lubricating oil by disposing the detecting surface of a sensor for detecting said degree of deterioration on the side wall of a liquid path disposed vertically and having no carrier bottom in the libricating oil system of an internal combustion engine. CONSTITUTION:An oil deterioration detecting section 17 is provided along a lubricating oil path 15A disposed vertically in a cylinder block 11. The surface of the detecting section 17 contacting the lubricating oil is formed of a vertical glass pipe 18, and since the lubricating oil flows through the glass pipe 18, carbon and other oil deteriorating substances floatingly carried in the lubricating oil do not stay on the surface of the glass pipe 18. Thus, since the deterioration of the lubricating oil can be accurately grasped, oil interchanging period is not mistaken. |
