PURPOSE:To obtain a miniaturized heat exchanger without decreasing its capacity, by arranging a plurality of U-shaped heat transfer pipes of different length in a shell body so that each flat top area of the pipe is crossing with each other. CONSTITUTION:A water chamber 1 is divided into two sections by a bulkhead 4. A plurality of heat transfer pipes 3 of different length are arranged in a shell body so that flat top area is crossing with each other. Heated water is fed from the inlet A of a water chamber 1, flowing through the heat transfer pipes 3, and is discharged from an outlet B. As cooling water is flowing from C to D inside the shell body 2, heated water from A is cooled by it while it is flowing in the shell body 2, before it is discharged from B. With such an arrangement, more space can be efficiently utilized inside the cylindrical shell body, so that the size of a heat exchanger body can be miniaturized, keeping the same heat transfer surface as of conventional heat exchangers. |
