The invention relates to a method for determining the deformability of biological cells or of their cell walls (membranes) by means of pore filters, in which, according to the invention, two discrete pairs of values of the time-dependence of the filtered suspension volume are measured to describe the functional course and to define a measurement for the deformability. In this method, the cells to be measured or their membranes are preferably present in a strongly diluted suspension having a concentration of not more than 10<10> cells per litre. <IMAGE>
