An apparatus for clearing scum in the tank, which is arranged on a bridge 1 movable over the tank in the vicinity of the water surface, is composed of a collecting channel 6 which is furnished with a raisable and lowerable overflow edge 10 which is controlled in relation to the liquid level 5 of the tank.
